Certainly, the year we were so excited to start and live to the fullest has not been the best for us so far. This new pandemic, COVID-19, has brought us to a situation we were not ready to face.
There are chaos, deaths, and confusion all over the world. This pandemic, like many other pandemics of historical times, is sweeping through the world at a horrifyingly fast pace. And we, yet, don’t know for how long the situation will stay the same.
This world is under attack. We all are in a warzone, trying to fight an enemy that we can’t even see. We are all soldiers, wearing invisible shields & capes to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
But this war is very different from the ones man has fought so far. In it, we don’t need bombs and deadly weapons to kill the enemy. No, nothing like that! All we need is ‘self-isolation’ to gain that victory.
For introverts, it might not be a new thing. But for others, it’s a hell of a challenge in itself. There’s no denying that we all are tired of staying at home & not going back to routine but believe me, we all needed this isolation from the world and worldly things.
The exhausted Earth needed a break! Break from us all humans. And we humans, we needed a break, that we could have never arranged otherwise.
This pandemic will become a history that our descendants will read in their books. Just like we read Spanish Flu, Swine Flu, etc. today. These days will be gone soon.
If you observe the situation deeply, you will come to know that there are numerous unexpected surprises and blessings many of us have failed to see. We have forgotten that even in the dark, there is always a silver lining!

HOW QUARANTINE IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE?
I’ll not tell you to not feel frustrated & scared about your current situation. But, for a moment, let’s be honest with ourselves and accept these real facts.
1. Exhausted Earth Has Started Healing:
Humans are selfish creatures. Most of us care about our own comfort without caring what that would cause to other creatures residing the Earth.
We use natural resources nonchalantly whether these are forests, coal, oil, or whatsoever. We just care about our needs and luxuries. But Nature cannot be destroyed for it is nature that controls us and not humans that control it.
Now nature is fixing the mistakes we made. It is rebooting to fix the errors and bringing everything back to how they used to be. Nature is telling us to slow down our pace otherwise such situations will keep coming.
With the lockdown imposed on people around the world, there are near to none flights, road traffic, and burning of fuel as compared to what it used to be before this quarantine. These things have given nature some time to go back to what it used to be.
NO2 gas that is a major cause of global warming has dropped by abound 60% in some cities of the UK. NASA satellite images show a dramatic decrease in pollution over China. Even water pollution has fallen dramatically.
This reduction in pollution will save many lives that were vulnerable to such toxic pollutants.
2. We, For Once, Have Become United:
Before this pandemic, many countries were playing evil political games against each other. But now with this problem in life, they have forgotten all such cruel games and joined hands to help each other come out of this problem.
China has donated a good amount of personal protective equipment to Italy to help them fight this disease and save more lives. Many people are giving a huge amount of donations (money they had saved for themselves) to help people who have lost their source of income.
It made us realize that we all are the same no matter which race, society, or status we belong to. It’s affecting rich, poor, European, Asian without checking their race or nationality. We create such useless titles for ourselves and live life to gain one title or the other.
3. Reliving the Pleasure of Spending Time with Family:
Out of many blessings this quarantine has brought, one is that people have brought positive changes in their social habits.
Before it, we all were too busy in the academic or economic engagements that we (members of a family) barely had time to sit together under the same roof and talk to each other.
Now, with lots of time on hand, we are getting more engaged with each other. Listening and sharing our hearts out.
Children, who needed more of our attention, are now getting quality time to learn from us; the elders. Indoor games are also getting popular once again. We have this amazing opportunity to rekindle the bond with family.
4. Investing This Time for Personal Growth:
There are two kinds of people out there: those who continuously complain about this lockdown and others who are considering this time a great opportunity to invest in themselves. It’s up to you to decide which side you belong to.
No doubt that due to this quarantine all of our outdoor activities are on hold. But people (who know that this time will never come in their life again) are looking for numerous ways to utilize this period effectively.
Many people are joining different online courses that national or international institutes are offering for free. They are learning new career skills and working on their personal growth through online courses that will surely boost their confidence and keep them motivated for a longer time.
A LESSON FROM THE PAST:
This self-isolation is a huge blessing to create something big and different. If we look at the pandemics that happened in history we will come to know that William Shakespeare wrote the best of the best plays while staying in self-isolation during the time of bubonic plaque.
Besides him, there were many who did the same and gave us (people of this generation) various things to learn from.
5. People are Healing their Old Wounds:
Now is the time to face yourself and find the answers you were seeking before. Heal your old wounds you never got time to work on. Wounds that are might be old, but still there (in the back of the mind) looking for your attention.
It could be about anything like a relationship, career, studies, or anything else that has left you wounded to get healed. People are reconnecting with themselves and recreating the bond they used to have.
So, take full advantage of this quarantine (a blessing in disguise) sit idle, relax, and reflect. Sort out the mess within yourself because no matter how peaceful your surrounding is, you will never be at peace until you settle down and embrace the chaos inside. Accept them and work on them!
With plenty of time on hand, take care of yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually.
6. Revisiting Long Lost Hobbies:
People are reconsidering old hobbies they used to have when their lives were not at a fast pace. And guess how do they feel while doing something that belongs to beautiful past memories? They felt nostalgic, pleased, and calm by rejoicing the old moments. Proving quarantine (yet again) a blessing in disguise.
Some are working on their gardens (creating kitchen garden), some are trying new recipes, new makeup looks and some are grabbing canvas to play with colors once again.
People are even trying new things and doing creative stuff they never got time to do so but always wished to learn them. Rereading books they once loved reading or reading a new book they had bought a year or so ago.
Things we did repeatedly are now on pause, giving us a chance to try other interesting and different things. So do the things before your old life gets a chance to grab you back to the same old routine.
7. Building Quarantine Stories:
Currently, we all are making our quarantine stories that we would discuss sometime, somewhere in the future. No matter if you want it or not but you have become a part of history that our descendants will study in books.
So let’s try to make stories that are worth mentioning. Stories we would feel proud to tell others. Because this situation will not last forever and this time will never return ever again in your whole life. So make the most out of this quarantine; a blessing in disguise.
Concluding Remarks (Quarantine: A Blessing in Disguise?):
This quarantine is an eye-opener for many of us as it made us realize the real importance of things we took for granted before (health, home, family, freedom, etc). Due to it, we have gotten time to rekindle the broken bonds, revisit the old habits, and rediscover ourselves.
So, if you utilize this time in the right way, this quarantine will pass in no time and you will be thanking yourself for doing fruitful things by the end of this quarantine. Because all the fruitful results will be worth it!
